Peoples of the Americas

4x52'

Photo: Night & Day

The earth begat itself and mountains arose, valleys were carved and oceans and rivers sprang up. As time passed, and landscapes changed, people migrated in search for new hunting grounds or to escape tribal rivalries. They travelled imaginary routes leading across huge plains and through deep forests, over oceans and seas and up mountains. Those paths were first trod by migrating peoples, then by travelling merchants, then later by explorers. All of these routes and voyages have names that hum with adventure: the Northwest Passage, crossing the Atlantic, seeking the source of the Orinoco River. Each is an odyssey that marked human history. VOYAGE ACROSS THE AMERICAS, from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego Part One: Following the Inuit Part Two: Land of the Aztecs and Maya Part Three: The People of the Forest Part Four: In the Cordillera Mountains: Incas and Patagonians
